Proposal to close Sweet Peas (our two year old nursery)
It is with a heavy heart that I am writing to inform you that we , with the agreement of the governors of Guildford Grove/The Spinney and the trustees of GEP academies, are proposing to close Sweet Peas at the end of the summer term 2018.
This has been a difficult decision and it is not one that has been taken lightly. Unfortunately the funding we receive does not cover the operational costs of the nursery. The provision is running at a significant loss and the deficit is continuing to grow. The nursery is not sustainable and therefore we face no other option but to explore the possibility of closure.
We are currently entering a period of consultation with affected staff and will be writing to you by the end of the half term to confirm the decision made following the consultation.
Should Sweet Peas close, we are proposing that children who will be turning three before the 31st December (rising threes) will be offered an early place in our school nursery in Autumn Term 2018.
For those parents whose children will be turning three after 31st December 2018, the Children’s Centre will be available to support and to signpost you to alternative provision available in the local area.
"My son loves the teachers and his class"
"It's a happy place for children to go, they are made to feel welcome"
"Sweet Peas is the best possible for start for children"
